In today’s digital age, there are several ways to consume information, including the Internet, YouTube, social media, and audiobooks. However, listening to podcasts has become my favorite method over the last few years.
There are thousands of Christian podcasts available, providing a wealth of content for believers to explore and a unique opportunity to grow spiritually.
In this post, I am excited to share why you should consider listening to podcasts, how to choose a podcast, as well as, my top Christian podcast recommendations to enrich your spiritual life.

Why Consider Christian Podcasts?
I’ll start by answering the question, ‘What is a podcast?’
What is a Podcast?
A podcast is a series of audio or video files made available in digital format for download or streaming over the Internet. It is like on-demand radio that you can listen to at your convenience and over and over again if you choose.
Podcasts were previously known as “audio blogs” and have roots dating back to the 1980s. However, the first actual podcast was created in 2003, and the term podcast was coined in 2004.
Even though podcasts have been around for over two decades, they are still a large and fast-growing platform.
What are the Benefits of Christian Podcasts?
There are three key benefits of listening to Christian podcasts.
You Can Listen Anywhere, Anytime
The number one benefit of listening to podcasts is that you can listen anywhere, anytime! This allows you to engage in productive multi-tasking.
God has graciously blessed us with technology, which allows us to have on-demand access to His Word and other Christian content.
In a world that values the hustle over the holy, Christian podcasts can help us be good stewards of our time because we can listen while doing other things such as cooking, cleaning, exercising, grocery shopping, or even driving.
If you struggle with spending time with God regularly, podcasts would be a good option for you.
It Can Enrich Your Spiritual Life
Listening to Christian podcasts is a great way to fill your mind with Scripture, biblical thoughts, and encouragement all week long, not just on Sundays.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Philippians 4:8 NLT
Listening to in-depth studies, insightful interpretations, and practical applications of scripture can help you explore God’s Word in a new light. You can also hear uplifting messages and testimonies from other Christians and get a fresh perspective on familiar passages and teachings.
Many Christian podcasts offer practical advice on navigating everyday challenges through a faith-based lens. You can learn everything from managing your money, strengthening your relationships, dealing with anxiety, work-life balance, and raising children with Christian values.
It Builds Community
Podcasts foster a sense of shared experience and belonging, as listeners feel a sense of community with others who share similar interests. Christian Podcasts will allow you to feel connected to a supportive network of Christians even when you can’t physically gather.
You will be able to communicate via social media platforms and/or email subscriptions, and therefore engage with the voices and creators behind your favorite podcasts, as well as, others within the fan-based community.
I can’t tell you how many new connections and online relationships I have established over the last few years with people all over the globe just from networking in this way.
Christian podcasts are a unique blend of faith-based teaching, encouragement, practical advice, and a sense of community, and are a valuable resource for nurturing your spiritual and mental well-being.
So, how do you choose the best Christian podcasts that work for you?
How Do I Choose the Best Christian Podcasts for Me?
The first thing to note is that you can listen to podcasts for free on many platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Overcast, Podcast Addict, and Amazon Music. YouTube has also become wildly popular in the last few years for podcasts as more and more people prefer video over audio-only. Some individual creators and organizations also offer free podcasts on their websites.
The choice comes down to personal preference and what device you will be listening from. Some platforms only support iOS (Apple) or Android, while others are not device-specific.
I personally am team Apple all the way, so I use Apple Podcasts.
When it comes to choosing which Christian podcast is best for you, a quick Google search will bring up tons of options, which can be very overwhelming. Selecting a good one is about more than just ratings. Just like choosing a platform, it comes down to personal preference.
Here are three key factors to consider when deciding which podcast to listen to:
- What topics are you interested in? (Bible study, relationships, motherhood, mental health, etc.)
- What format do you prefer? (interview-style podcast, solo host, conversational, lecture style, sermons)
- How much time do you have to listen? (5-15 min. short devotionals, 20-60 min. long-form deep dive podcasts)
Answering these questions will help you narrow down what podcasts to check out.
Whether you’re a busy mom seeking guidance on navigating motherhood, a working woman struggling to find balance, or simply someone looking to deepen your understanding of the Bible or learn what the Bible says about finances, there’s a Christian podcast perfectly suited for you.
Each podcast platform provides a description of what to expect from the respective podcasts that are listed. You should be able to easily determine the following: podcast title, description of what the podcast is about, the hosts, list of recent episodes, ratings and reviews, episode release frequency, and average episode length.
To avoid having to do this podcast research on your own, in the next section, I will provide my personal list of 20 Christian podcast recommendations to help kick-start your listening journey.
