Samigina, also known as Gamigin, is the fourth spirit of the Ars Goetia and holds the rank of Marquis. He is a teacher of sciences and a revealer of the mysteries of death, memory, and the afterlife.
Traditionally, grimoires describe him as a small horse or a donkey that transforms into a human form upon the magician’s request.
While his image may seem humble compared to the grandeur of some kings and presidents, his influence is subtle, penetrating, and essential for any magician who seeks to master knowledge beyond the mortal veil, recall lost information, or influence memory and perception.
Reasons For Summoning Samigina
In my own work, I have called Samigina not only for necromantic guidance alongside Murmur (regarding the afterlife and those no longer with us), but also to sharpen memory, to revive dormant skills and to influence how I am remembered by others.
He governs both personal recall and the public narrative of a person’s life. He is a librarian of the unseen world, the one who knows where every scrap of information is hidden, even if that information is a faded thought in someone’s mind.
Planet, Metal, and Element
Samigina’s planetary association is with Mercury, which governs communication, intellect, and the swift transfer of knowledge. This makes him ideal for any work involving learning, memorization, and information recovery.
In terms of metal, quicksilver is traditionally linked to Mercury, though in ritual practice silver can be substituted for safety and ease of use, serving as a reflective conduit for his insights.
His elemental correspondence is Water, symbolizing the subconscious, intuition, and the flow of memory. When invoking him, I often incorporate a shallow bowl of water into the altar setup, using the reflections as a focal point for scrying.
Astrological Sign
Samigina is most strongly aligned with Gemini, ruled by Mercury, with subtle influences from Pisces through his connection to the spirit world and hidden knowledge.
Gemini enhances his capacity for the exchange of ideas and mental dexterity, while Pisces opens the gate to spiritual impressions and the dream state. When Mercury transits Gemini, or when the Moon is in Pisces, the pathways for his influence become clearer.
These are moments when your own mind can more easily bridge the gap between the waking intellect and the submerged currents of the astral.
Offerings and Presentation
Offerings to Samigina should reflect refinement and respect. I have found that a small silver cup of wine or spring water, accompanied by fresh white flowers, resonates well. Candles in light blue or silver tones seem to enhance the clarity of his communication.
As he is a spirit of knowledge and subtle influence, he is less interested in grand physical offerings and more responsive to acts of devotion. Such as maintaining a clean altar, copying his sigil by hand in fine ink, or reading aloud texts related to your petition.
Attuning to Samigina’s Energy
Attuning to a demon’s energy is a lighter form of invocation — not the direct summoning I would use in full ceremonial work, but a way of allowing the spirit’s qualities to flow into your own aura.
For Samigina, choose an hour of Mercury on a Wednesday. Prepare a simple altar with a silver or glass bowl of water, a light blue candle on the left, and a silver or white candle on the right. Burn a mild incense such as sandalwood or a light frankincense to keep the mind alert but calm.
Sit before the altar, gaze into the water’s surface, and chant his enn: “Esta ta et tasa Samigin” in a steady rhythm. As you do so, visualize the surface of the water rippling as if stirred by an unseen wind.
Let impressions rise and fall naturally; do not force the mind to be silent, but instead allow thoughts to pass like clouds while you remain aware of the undercurrent. For example, the subtle shift in perception that signals his awareness touching yours.
Over time, this practice strengthens both memory and receptivity to hidden or forgotten knowledge via his influence.
Samigina Ritual for Knowledge & Memory: The Rite of Undying Recall
This is a high ceremonial operation for acquiring knowledge, sharpening memory, and retrieving concealed information. It blends the art of invocation, pathworking, and channeling into a single rite.
Preparatory Purification and Fasting

On the day of the rite, eat lightly, such as fruit, and water, and avoid unnecessary speech. A few hours before the ceremony, perform a ritual bath with salt, bay leaf, and crushed rosemary.
As you wash, move your hands over your head as if peeling away layers of fog, casting them into the water. This physical act begins the clearing of mental haze.
Temple Arrangement
- Altar Position: Facing East, the quarter of Air.
- Cloth: White or light blue.
- Tools:
- Athame (or consecrated dagger) placed on the right.
- Scrying mirror behind the bowl of water.
- Samigina’s sigil in silver ink at center.
- Blue and white candles flanking the sigil.
- Incense: sandalwood with a pinch of storax.
- Silver or polished glass talisman before the sigil.
- A clean quill or feather placed to the East side of the altar.
The Circle of Study and Memory is drawn or marked, with each quarter receiving a small offering of incense. The scrying mirror should be angled so that candlelight and incense smoke reflect across its surface.
Opening Movements
- Stand at the East of the circle, facing the altar.
- Hold the athame upright before your forehead, point up, and make a slow, deliberate circle turn clockwise, visualizing a dome of pale blue light rising from the perimeter.
- Return to the East, strike the point of the athame toward the floor three times, saying:
“By the powers of Air and Mercury, I sanctify this place for the work of knowledge.”
Initial Invocation
- Light the blue candle on the left, saying: “For the wisdom of the living.”
- Light the white candle on the right, saying: “For the wisdom of the dead.”
- Ignite incense, wafting the smoke over the sigil in three clockwise passes.
Hold the sigil at eye level and chant: “Esto avage Secore Samigina” in a steady rhythm, taking one step forward toward the altar with each repetition until you are close enough that your breath warms the bowl of water.
Channeling Sequence
- Place your left hand on the talisman, right hand holding the athame pointed into the water.
- As you chant the enn, visualize the athame’s point drawing a silver thread of light from the water into your forehead.
- When you feel a change in the atmosphere (coolness, pressure in the head, shifting of shadows), lift the athame and point it toward the scrying mirror, as if sending the collected light into it.
Gaze into the mirror until the surface darkens or shimmers.
- If seeking specific knowledge, speak your question aloud while still gazing.
- If seeking to influence memory or perception, visualize the target person appearing within the mirror’s surface, and “write” the desired memory into the scene using the athame’s tip in small, precise movements.
The Memory Weave
Stand straight, hold the feather in your right hand, and make slow horizontal passes over the water bowl as if sweeping dust from the surface.
With each pass, silently gather the impressions from the scrying and “pull” them into the talisman with your left hand resting on it. This is the act of transferring the spirit’s guidance into a form you can carry.
Sealing the Current
- Hold the talisman between both hands, lift it to your forehead, and say:
“By the seal of Samigina, I bind these memories to serve my will and my ascent.” - Pass the talisman through the incense smoke three times in the shape of a sideways figure-eight (∞), symbolizing infinite recall and retention.
- Place the talisman back on the sigil and trace a clockwise circle around it with the athame’s tip, locking the energy in place.
License to Depart and Closing
Thank Samigina directly, speaking slowly:
“Marquis Samigina, I give thanks for your wisdom and presence. Depart in peace to your place, but remain in influence as the work demands.”
Extinguish candles in reverse order of lighting. Walk the circle counterclockwise once with the athame lowered, visualizing the dome of light sinking back into the earth.
Keep the talisman with you during study, ritual divination, or intellectual work. Dreams, spontaneous recollections, or sudden flashes of understanding in the days after are signs of Samigina’s ongoing presence.
Synergy with Other Spirits
As part of a demonic stack, Samigina pairs well with Paimon for broadening learning capacity and commanding intellectual respect, with Astaroth for uncovering hidden truths, and with Orobas for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the knowledge received.
He can also be paired with other necromantic demons such as Murmur, if you are interested in particular aspects of the afterlife and those that’ve left the mortal plane.
Summoning a demon is no small task. It takes skill and bravery. You are of course encouraged to try it. But if you are unable to perform this ritual or summon Samigina (or any other demon) by yourself for whatever reason, you can reach out to me and request a ritual. I will perform it on your behalf and you can reap the rewards faster and without any dangers to your own person. Till next time!
