A. Sutherland – AncientPages.com – In Swedish folklore, the sjörå (or the ‘Mistress of the Lake’) is a “supernatural being” that inhabits mainly lakes, but it can also rule over other watery realms. She dominated her own territory like a seductive forest spirit, skogsrå (huldra), who always watched over the forest and was described earlier on Ancient Pages.
Like some other supernatural nature beings, this seductive female spirit was known to be interested in male company. Many are said to have fallen for her beauty, but she preferred it when a fisherman was alone on a boat. However, it was not always only erotic services that this female being was interested in.
